Extend the Line

A Story of Transit Equity

Extend the Line is a story of transit equity, told in three parts. “Then & Now” explores how changes to the community has made access to simple things like groceries has become more limited. “A Promise on the Line” discusses the purposed isolation of predominantly African American neighborhoods, with a direct connection to historical redlining. “The Long Way Home” follows the story of a working parent simply attempting to get home to their children at the end of the day, and the difference in quality of life access to transportation options can make.

This series was produced to bring attention and support towards extending the DC Streetcar, as originally promised, to neighborhoods east of the Anacostia River in Washington, DC, and to address common questions and concerns.

Written, Directed, and Produced by Liam Gideon in collaboration with Friends of DC Streetcar.
